Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

I looked out this morning, and the sun was gone, Turned on some music to start my day. I lost my self in a familiar song, I closed my eyes and i slipped away...When i hear that old song they used to play, i begin dreaming.../Boston So true, so true, we get carried away in the music. and for example: I'm a girl with many, many talents. One of them, is that i washed my clothes and i forgot my head phones in one of the pockets. Luckily for me, they still work-or so i thought. I had an appointment this week and i took Eddie(my c.d. player) with me. I wanted to listen to the Doors on the way. The first song began to play and i heard only parts of it. The parts were very clear but not the whole song as one. That what happends when you wash your head phones in the washing machine. I was very annoyd at first but then i noticed that although i have listened to that song handreds of times, its the first time that i can listen to the bass clearly, or to the piano.

The experience became totally different. A tottal new discovery of The Doors!!! Ray Manzarik did things with his fingers to the piano, and it was new and sexy. The drums gave the rythem, and it became a beautiful puzzle. So my recommendation to all of you, music lovers and rock stars: put your head phones in the washing machine for at least two hours, pick a c.d. and enjoy the ride.

Tonight, songs for the night-ENJOY!!!

Our beloved mama radio-Lorelai, is engaged!!!! Goes to show that's it's never to late! Personaly, i'm a hopless romantic and proud of it. It's going to be a kick ass wedding, of that i'm shure. Any of you, music lovers and rock stars, who are on the verge of proposing and have fears and second thoughts...DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!!!, They don't want you to be happy, cause it scares the shit out of them. I met a very nice man in his 50's, a few weeks ago and he said that he never maid the mistake of getting married. Shure, he was in relationships, but he never married. He did say that maybe he'll regrat it some day. No lover, no femily, no children. No one will be there for him at the end of his days, he will leave nothing behind-so sad, so sad.

This Wednesday, the 16th, we'll take a musical journey to the bliss and pain of the best love songs ever!!! It will be our way to take part in Lorelai's happiness!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Just came back from a Roxette concert in Tel-Aviv...CRAZY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went with my best friend, we have been loving them foreverrrrrrrr! The concert was amazing, they gave thier best, all of them. I knew all of the songs, some of them i haven't heard for years till tonight, and that's one of the best parts of a concert: the surprises. When you go "oh' yes. they're palying that song...". And those peak moments when they paly your absolute favored song that makes your emotions reel. There's a word to describe that feeling: orgasm. There's nothing in the world like a live concert: the energy, the passion, the emotional relief, the unbelievable sensation of actually seeing the artist in front of you with your own eyes.

I have no voice left from the singing and screaming. There were some assholes that complained that i'm making them deaf with my screaming. I asked them if it's their first time in a concert.

Of course, after a concert i stend in the front of the stage and ask very nicely for goodies: play list, a drum stick, a guitar pick, anything they give me- i take. I have a very nice selection of goodies. This time i got a play-list, and after begging the guys that take away the stage, i got a beautiful purple pick. At some point they understood that if they ever want to go home, they need to get rid of me, and it was obvious by the minute that i'm not going empty handed!!!!
Oh, and did i mentioned that i met them for a minute after the concert? yep, yep i did!!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Come to my window, Crawl inside, Wait by the light of the moon. Come to my window...I'll be home soon./M.E.

About eight months ago, i got this notion in my head to do a special radio show for Gilad Shalit. Something different. To present him to the world as a human being with feelings and wants like all of us, and not just as a captive soldier. I went to speak to his parents about a radio show that would feature all of Gilad's favorite and loved songs. Noam-his father said that it's been to long and that he doesn't remember Gilad's favorite music. And that they don't want the whole world to listen-only the Prime minister, and he doesn't think that Bibi listens to our RFN radio.

Today a miracle has accured and Gilad is back home, with his femily where he belongs. Lorelai and i were watching the special T.V. brodcast of his return home. The price for his return is very high and very very painfull and we must not ever forget it!!!

I hope one day to sit with Gilad in our studio and to have him as a guest for the Wednesday night musical journey show. To talk about his favorite music and the stories behind them, and of course to play them. And together to send and reinforce the feeling of never giving up hope. To never stop praying-eventually it just happens!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Present Tense/Pearl Jam

Do you see the way that tree bends? does it inspire?
Leaning out to catch the sun's raysa, a lesson to be applied.
Are you getting something out of this? all encompassing trip.
You can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets, oh
Or you can come to terms and realize, you're the only one
Who can't forgive yourself, oh.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense!
Have you ideas on how this life ends? checked your hands
And studied the lines...have you the belief that the road ahead
Ascends off into the light? seems that needlessly it's getting harder to
Find an approach and a way to live. Are we getting something out of
This, all-encompassing trip?
You can spend your time alone redigesting past regrets, oh
Or you can come to terms and realize, you're the only one
Who cannot forgive yourself, oh
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense!!!

The new year is coming in four days. The greatest grace we can do with ourselves, is to follow the lyrics above!!! Shana Tova-have a great one, filled with love, good friends, and lots of good music. Maya

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Singin' in the classes, Music for your masses. Give no head, No backstage passes. Have a proper giggle, I'll be quite polite, But when I rock the mic I rock the mic...I don't wanna rock, DJ But you're making me feel so nice. When's it gonna stop, DJ? Cos you're keeping me up all night./ R.W.

I was at a wedding this week. A couple in love, two beautiful people. The bride had a gorgeous dress that didn't look like a cream puff (for a change)!!! A beautiful garden hall. And don't even start me on the food: yammi yammi yammi. The music at the reception till the Hupa was the best: Rock, Funk, 80's-the works. Knowing the couple, my friends and i had a lot of expectations for the music, when the dancing would start. And then the disappointment began: during the meal, the D.J. took his place and started to play some tunes that were horrible, but we thought that it's just for the begining, for the parents and their freinds, and for the rest of the dancing night there will be only good muisc. Boy, were we WRONG.....it just got worse and worse to the piont that the bride was not happy, and her sister (my best friend) went to talk to the D.J., as did the groom himself. Guess what-it didn't work and the D.J. did his own thing, that made the rest of us very unhappy. We were contemplating very seriously to kick his ass and for me to take his place. (After all, it was Wednesday night). What happened was that the D.J.'S megalomaniac ego got the best of him and he forgot why he was there in the first place...

The holly roll of a D.J. is to make people happy with music. It's a sacred mission and not to be taken lightly. These days when everybody are very busy fighting and killing each other, music is the only thing that is left to remind us that we are all humens and we have at least one thing in common.

My dear music lovers and rock stars: What's on for this week: Tuesday-the 13th, 11-13pm(centrel Jerusalem time) great music for the day. Wednesday the 14th, 21-23pm, we'll take a nusical journey and this time: soundtracks!!!!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

It’s not a hill, it’s a mountain, As you start out the climb. Listen for me, I’ll be shouting. We’re gonna make it all the way to the light. But you know I’ll go crazy if I don’t go crazy tonight/U2

I'm feeling optimistic for a change, haven't felt it for months now. Changes every where, good things, happy things-i want some of that. I deserve it-most us do!!! A good friend gave me a blessing that new good things will happen to me very soon. It got me thinking: these new good things-can they happen only with new people...or also with people i already know, already experienced things with. And the answer is heck yes: If we are lucky enough, we get to change all the time. Time, experiences, new self discoveries-they all do their thing. It makes us new to ourselves and others.

These two weeks in New-York did me a world of good. My family, friends, the city, THE FOOD. Two weeks of the the best meat and Häagen-Dazs. The few things that i missed was our radio. So here we go-The new season is here, and i will take my place on the stage this week. While i was in N.Y., i meet people that listen to our radio, to my show, and they love it. That was an amazing experience for me-meeting people from a different continent that listen to my shows, love the music that i play. It makes them feel good.

This up coming week both shows are back: Tuesday 11-13pm, two hours of great music. Wednesday 21-23pm musical journey- we are going to have a threesome. That's right- a threesome-I bet you are dying to find out what i mean...there's only one to do that. Central Jerusalem time. See ya!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

I love the way you look tonight, With your hair hangin down on your shoulders... I love the way you move tonight, Beads of sweat drippin down your skin, Me lying here and you lyin there, Our shadows on the wall and our hands everywhere./B.A.

Yearning is a hazardous feeling. It makes us want certain things...and the wanting leads to action. At least, thats the way it is with me. Otherwise you get stuck in the fantasy stage, without the actual living. The first taste of it is very addictive, but it tastes so good. You never know where it would lead but all the roads lead to the same place. So many poets and artists said more then ones, that the road itself is importent just as the destination. So true, so true. These days the thing is to castrate the emotions, not to feel, not to get attached. Its less frightening that way, believe me-i know it all to well. But there's something so soothing in laying your head on somebody elses shoulder, closing your eyes and letting go....falling asleep together, be capable to let go and rest through the night together...

Of course music has a big part in it. We often feel all these things but cant express them, can't find the exact words. Sometimes the melody is enough to start the flames, to engage the passion. From there-its up to us! theres an idea for an albom: "soundtrack of passion"...yammi

Tonight's musical journey-songs for the night..here we go!!!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Come into these arms again, And lay your body down. The rhythm of this trembling heart Is beating like a drum.....Oh loneliness - oh hopelessness, To search the ends of time, For there is in all the world No greater love than mine./Annie L.

There's a darkness in everyone of us. It's deep, sometimes black/white, other times colorfull. Sometimes it keeps it silence, other times loud-inside and out. Makes noise, blurts out sounds and half words that only our subconscious can make sense. What triggers it? whats awakens it from its slumber?
It's all a game of association really,: a word, a smell, a snap shot from a movie. A song...a song...
And then the flood of emotions begins. It starts slowly, like the cracking of a dam by a flow of water. It builds up and catches speed, till the dam is crushed and broken, totally destroyed. And then there's no protection from the flood of emotions that are running trough your veins. The memories are back with a vengeance, and with them the teers, the brokeness, and the hopes of the past. Next comes the old and agonizing question, what's for the future???

I honestly believe that, that is up to us. Our future, God gave us the power to choose. Yes, so many paths in one life time. And if we listen closely, there's a whisper in our ear that guides us to the right path. The whisper comes from above, from the same light that gives us second and sometimes a third chance. The power to grab that chance is up to us, no one will do that job for us. So we can run away from it cause its hard and scares the shit out of us. Or we can run towards it. So what will it be???

Tonight's musical journey is to the songs for the night. As always, we'll take it together!

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

The line it is drawn, The curse it is cast. The slow one now Will later be fast. As the present now Will later be past. The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last, For the times they are a-changin./ Bob Dylan

In this world of ours, what goes around-comes around. Justice maybe takes time, but it comes and when it does-it washes
everything in its path. We can't just hurt someone and get away with it-it just doesn't work that way. Most of all, that notion, that realization, gives a deep feeling of hope. There's more good in this world then evil. There's more light then darkness, and more people that allow themselves to love and feel then those who are emotionally castrated. There's hope for evevryone, it's never too late. And, if we are lucky enough, we'll get a third and a forth chance as well.

These days i feel it the most, maybe because my birthday is this week-June 1. I love that date, the beginning of summer, of light and warmth. Birthdays are good times to reflect the past, the future and beyond. With no doubt, one of this year great surprises, gifts and achievements, is our radio. A long time dream, come true.

So, how will we celebrate the occasion? this Wednesday night, our Wednesday night special between 9-11 pm, we'll take a journey to the great music, the songs that have changed me, effected me and made me the Maya i'm today.

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

I've conquered my past, The future is here at last, I stand at the entrance, To a new world I can see. The ruins to the right of me, Will soon have lost sight of me. Love rescue me!/U2

If it was only as easy as that, but it's not-it's a struggle. A struggle for us, that is sensed through out the song. That is one of the many gifts of music-to manifest our feelings, wishes, frustrations and hope, especially when we can't find the words ourselves. That has always been my relationship with music, especially with songs by U2 and Pearl Jam.

U2: we all have our stories, memories from our first time listening to a song, discavering a band, and from that point on, nothing has been the same. Its just like a relationship that builds its self up. It grows and grows to the point when that music-from that artist gives us understanding, comfort and hope. Sometimes that music saves us. That is my thing with U2 since i was 15.

This Wednesday night special at 9pm, we'll take a two hour musical journey to celebrate Bono's birthday. The music, the stories, the achievements.

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

I'm ready, ready for the laughing gas. i'm ready, ready for what's next: ready to duck, ready to dive, ready to say "i'm glad to be alive".../U2
So i was thinking to my self: "Albums that changed music history..." what does it mean, really? did it create some sort of a revolution, did it create a havoc(in a good way), and what about the songs themselves-do they speak to us in a different way and no matter how many times we listen to them, they still make us feel butterflies in our tummies. Yep, i guess all of the above!!!

Achtung Baby-the album, and Zoo t.v.-the world tour that followed (and thats being taught in music academies, till this day), were and still are different in so many ways. its not only the 12 songs that each one of them effects you in various ways, but also the political message behind them and infront of Zoo T.V.

Tomorrow night, we will take a journy: musical, spiritual and political, and feel for ourselves what it is all about. in the mean time "everything you know is a lie, watch more t.v."

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

If I could stay.. then the night would give you up. Stay then the day would keep it’s trust. Stay with the demons you drown, Stay with the spirit I found, Stay and the night would be enough./U2
The last couple of weeks, it would seem that the world has gone crazy, everything is up side down. Actually, when were things ever normal??? The disaster in Japan, the merciless murder of children and babies, terror acts in the beautiful City of Jerusalem, which was 10 minuts from my home. Makes you want to pack the back pack and get the far away from reality as you possibly can. When my friend was killed 4 months ago, that was my second instinct: to pack my back pack and get the fuck out. somewhere, anywhere, just not here, not where 26 year old die in fires. But thats exactly the question: where or until when...or maybe, just maybe there's another solution, another way out: we can take comfort in each other. In each other and in God's most precious gift to man kind: music-of course. Good friends that help to numb the pain. and one lover to another-and then the night would really be enough!!!

This week-Wednesday night special-Dirty Dancing, thats right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oKUTOLSeMM&feature=related

We so deserve it: The music, the songs, the stories. I'm sure we all have our story related to the movie...and how can we not, the music, the dancing, Patrick Swayze wearing tight leather pants and holding you close...OH YES. This Wednesday night from 21-23pm.

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Wow look at you now, Flowers in the window, It's such a lovely day And I'm glad you feel the same, Cause to stand up, out in the crowd, You are one in a million And I love you so, Lets watch the flowers grow./Travis

Ah, the spring, the spring has come!!! my favorite time of the year. Every where i go in this beautiful country of ours, everithing is just blossoming, evolving. Such a promise for somthing new and better. And "writing" about new and better-our new studio that is being build. how freaking amazing its is to do shows from there. being a part of a growing process, of something so unique. Thanks to modern technology (which i'm not such a fan of, though i'm so addicted to Youtube), we reach music lovers all over the world. I could be doing a show and suddenly, i see a listner from Brazil or The U.K that stay tuned in for the whole show. and i always wonder: who are you- a man or a woman and what does the music make you feel. or maybe you're not alone and enjoying it with someone alse...

So you know what i miss, records-vinyl records. i grew up on those. I was by Steve's(our radio's founding dad), and he must have hundreds of them, if not more. and he showed me some Doors redords that he got when they were just released. I could just smell Jim on them. How the record just flows in circles and the scratchy sound of the needle that adds to the vibe. You have to lay the needle on the record very gently and carefully, alse you can scratch the record. it took me a while to lern how to do that as a kid, i was very proud of my self the day that i got it right. So here's a thought: my birthday is coming up in a few months...any of you who is looking fo the right present, there's your clue, you cant go wrong with that one, ha ha.

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Come to my window, Crawl inside, wait by the light of the moon, Come to my window, I'll be home soon.../M.E.

Hey there everybody, especially those of you-us who have lost someone dear to a tragic and/or redundant death. I'll be honest with you, on rare occasions i'm speacless, and this is one of them. what can i write, its just too sad for words. But i guess i'll give it a try, god only knows how hard it is to write this words about Inbal and what happened to her.

Three months ago, a fire started from an "accident". An accident that took the lives of dozens of people. On that morning Inbal was preparing a lecture she was suppose to give later that day, on one of her courses. In the beginning of the year she had joined the Israely Prison Service, as a criminologist, she wanted to work with prisoners: to help rehabilitate them, and at the time of the fire, she was a cadet. early that day, Inbal phoned her mom and asked of her to light a candle for her, cause she had stage fright. But she never had the chance to give that lecture cause she and her class mates went on the bus of death. They were supposed to help to evacuate a prison from the fire, but they never got there. The bus drove straight to the fire and 40 people died-Inbal was one of them. Beautiful, 26 years old Inbal, with so much life and spirit in her, so many dreams and such love with her partner-Nir-who these days is a dead man walking.

One of our friends said that she still awaits for a phone call from Inbal in which she would laugh at us and say: "Hey suckers, it was a joke, it wasn't me. come on-you really think that something like this would happen to me. I'm here, i'm alive and kicking". All that is left to say is that we all still wait for that, we haven't lost hope.

The show today will be dedicated to Inbal. There's lots more that i can say about Inbal as a person and that damned fire, but no more. this is how we should remember her.

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Is everybody in? Is everybody in? The show is about to begin. Wake up./J. Morrison
So, the moment has arrived. Isn't it amazing how we wait for something for along time, the excitement and the anticipation builds it self up. and then, then it just...happens...
I've had the dream of having my own radio show for years now. prayed for it, tried different stations and nothing. and then, 7 months ago, to be exact, it just happened...in the right place, with the right peaple. With amazing people, for the founding mom and dad of our kick ass radio, well they just KICK ASS. Tonight, is the debut of the evening-night show. Different music, different vibes and energies. The best things happen at night. Some shows will be dedicated to specific albums, albums that have changed music history. and other shows...well, we'll just have to wait and see. and remember that good things come to those who wait.

The debut tonight: Wednesday nights we will take a journy, different journy each time. so i thought to my self that it should start with the right soundtrack. Tonights show is all about songs that take us to a spiritual Journey, take us body, mind and soul to a different sphere.
songs that are a journey by them selves. So, brace your self and please, please, PUMP UP THE VOLUME!!!

And speaking of journies:

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

An' I wanna move the town to the clash city rockers, You need a little jump of electrical shockers./ The Clash

Hey there world wide rockstars!
So, from the feedback and the reaction, i have been getting from you, the blog is beginning to do its thing! great show today, and all of you from the U.S, 11-13 pm by us, thats 4-6 am by you. and for all of you from the west coast, its even earlier-WOW. Next Wednesday, February 23, 21-23 pm, Jerusalem time, the night show will make its debut. Its going to be amazing just like the morning show, but with a different vide and energy to it. The debut it's self will be incredible, so brace your self!!! Oh, and Stive and i weren't kidding about you donating money so i can go to Australia next month and hook up with Eddie Vedder, while he is on his solo tour there. Well, maybe Stive was, but i was dead serious. Your money will not be wasted, it will go to a very good and important cause!!!

So today on the show, i was in the mood for something nostalgic: Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" came to mind. (check out the lyrics link). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4pwSLptqbM
That song was in the kick ass movie: "Almost Famous". For those of you who hadn't seen it yet-go-now!!! Actually, thats what i did earlier this evening, i think it was my third time. I'ts Cameron Crowe at his best, and the soundrack is amazing, featuring: Led Zepellin, The who, Yes, and meny more. and it has its funny parts as well. There is something about the film, that gets to you. i don't know exactly what it is, but it always moves me. I think that a big part of it, is how they use music to express emotions-from the third scene, when the teenage daughter tries to explain to her mother, why she's a failure at being a mom, using a Simon and Garfunkel song.

In the mean time, have fun you all, listen to lots and lots of great music. and if there are special songs that you want to share with us, this is your place to do it.

Welcome to Maya's World of Music!

Just let me hear some of that rock and roll music, Any old way you choose it./The Beatles

Hey there music lovers and rock stars!!!!
yep, this blog is on fire and ready to go. this blog is about two things: 1. music, good music, the best music and lots of it. 2. you and me-that's right. we have our mid morning thing (Tuesdays between 11-13pm). soon we will have a kick ass night show. and this is our world, our space. to share...what exactly? for us music lovers, music makes the soundtrack of our lives. so bring it on: the stories, the faux pas. the naughtier-the better. but of course we can be serious as well.

Whats more, i'm very proud to present the Lyrics link: a song is made from music and lyrics. and to me that process is just like falling in love: you meet a new person and the first attraction is the physical one-the outside. and that is the first thing that a song captures in us-the music. but then comes the next step, ah-the masks are off-to get to know that persons inner beauty, his depth, what he/she is truly all about. and those are the lyrics in the song!!! And, like in love, that beautiful discovery doesn't have to be in a new song. we can be with the same person for a long time and we think we know them, but then they surprise us with something deep and new. i can listen to a song for years and to think i totally get it, and then i open the booklet of the c.d. and read the lyrics, and the "wow" hits me again.
So, every week or so, there will be new songs with the lyrics. and, if you rock stars, have songs that blow you away that you would like to share with us, you know where to find me.
